
Successful year for John Greasley
Specialist constructor John Greasley Limited has enjoyed a busy and successful year.
Works completed during 2011 included the total refurbishment of the 27 holes at Farleigh Court Golf Club, part of the Foxhills Group. The works entailed the construction of over 100 bunkers, new lakes, footpaths and drainage.
At Tandridge Golf Club in Surrey, the bunkers on the front 9 holes were restored in the original ‘Colt’ style under the direction of Frank Pont.
A phased 18 hole bunker reconstruction and course alteration project at East Berkshire Golf Club has been completed this year. Enhancements included the re-contouring of green approaches and surrounds, rebuilding of greens 8, 9 & 10, along with a host of intricate greenside retaining features.
Extensive reinstatement at three golf clubs, Bury, Stand & Ellesmere Golf Clubs, Manchester, valued in excess of £1.7m was completed as part of a large scale utilities project. Tees, greens and fairways were rebuilt along with the installation of piped land drainage and gravel banding. In excess of 85,000m2 of turf was laid and the company’s role was also extended to the growing in until ready for play.
New practice facilities were also built at Heswall Golf Club consisting of a putting green, chipping green and bunker practice area.
